The Milken Summer Academy took place once again this past summer for students who were interested in challenging themselves over the extended break.
This year the program included 113 students, spread across twelve sections and ten teachers.
One major addition to summer school this year was the implementation of a new ninth grade history class, taught by Mr. Tony Lawrence. The class was comprised of a small, dedicated group of students and included a field trip to the Getty Villa.
Additionally, the Milken Mart was open for the first time during summer school.
Everyone came to school with energy and they were ready to learn, while hopefully having some fun,” Mr. Beau Lindsay, summer school assistant principal, said.
Next year, the summer school directors hope to open up a PE section for Milken students and a robotics camp for younger kids. They will be added to provide Milken students with more options and methods for freeing up their schedule by completing elective requirements over the summer.
