Second annual “Kick for a Common Goal” hugely successful

Girls Varsity Soccer Coach

On Saturday, January 22, the soccer programs at Milken and Beverly Hills High Schools participated in the second annual “Kick for a Common Goal”. This joint fundraising event was organized by the Head Coaches of Milken’s soccer programs Nick Holton and Ryan Hosler in conjunction with the coaches at BHHS. The event which is shaped around a double header of Varsity Boys and Girls soccer games has evolved into an exciting annual event which raises money to help find the cure for Multiple Sclerosis and ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease).

The Milken Girls team earned a 1-1 tie with the talented Norman squad while our Boys narrowly lost 4-2 against a very powerful BHHS team. The games were hugely entertaining and helped make the event a success. To help add further spice to this year’s competition each school competed to win a trophy presented to the school which raised the most money for their respective charities.

After online donations, food and clothing sales and personal donations made by the 500-700 attendees, the total amount raised was over $10,000. $8,000 of this total will be attributed to Multiple Sclerosis due to the efforts of Milken and its partner in the project, Reflections in Dance.

Congratulations to our wonderful coaches, player and the soccer communities from Milken and BHHS for putting on this incredible charity event. We look forward to this friendly athletic rivalry continuing to raise money for MS and ALS in the future.
