    An inspirational article, Ami. I don’t think I would have been able to control myself as you did, I definitely wouldn’t have been able to tell David he hadn’t offended me. Great job!

    This reminds of the quote or saying “pick and choose your battles”.

    But I think you were right, in this case, for speaking your mind and for defending your values.

    My cousin is ultra-orthodox and she is only 19 years old. Her parents are both very far from orthodox, so it’s generally rare for a child of completely unorthodox parents to be ultra-orthdox. Anyways, Shabbat dinners can get very heated between us. At times I’ve felt like no matter what I said to her, she would never see my viewpoint. But with some persistence we were able to both open our minds to different ideas and such.

    I guess it would be different because I’m assuming you barley know this guy, but what I’m trying to say is that their is a slight chance that this guy gave a thought or two to what you were saying, and maybe next time he is confronted with the same conflict he will have a more open mind —

    But yeah, great article, really enjoyed reading it.
