From Monday, December 6, until Friday, December 10, Milken students held their annual Midnight Mission Toy Drive.

Midnight Mission assists men and women from skid row trying to reestablish their lives. Along with toys, they offer food, haircuts, and even job training.

This year, the toy drive was hosted right before the holidays due to the outcome of the previous year’s drive. The season enables the students to receive gifts while also giving back. The parents at Midnight Mission stress the fact that they will not be able to provide for their children, and this allows students the opportunity to help those in need.

“We had such a great success around Hanukkah [last year] that we had no other choice but to do the same this year,” Ethan Kraft ’12 said.

While many students took the great opportunity to give back to their community, Kraft believes he must take the initiative to inform the students about the organization as a whole in order for them to connect on an emotional level.

“The ideal outcome is for everyone to want to give back,” Kraft said.

The toy drive was considered a great success since Milken students took it upon themselves to organize the drive while others contributed by donating gifts for the holiday season.
