If you have not noticed already, there are two giant nets outside of the computer lab. You may have questioned the purpose of them at first, but by the time sixth period starts, it becomes clear. The Golf team has set up a practice area on campus, almost like a makeshift driving range. Since October, team members and those who have never picked up golf clubs before have been able to practice for the upcoming season.

The golf team has never had more than nine players, and Coach Dan Brink thought that putting the golf nets at school would be a great way to shows students how great the sport is. Senior co-captain Ilan Chesed ʼ13 thinks that having the nets at school has been beneficial to the team.

“After having been on the golf team all of high school and having struggles to find players, it’s great that there’s been an overwhelming interest in the team. It’s all thanks to Coach Brink setting up the nets so we can practice and teach others,” Chesed said.

To date, there have been nearly 40 signups for the team, causing Coach Brink to consider creating a JV team. While there is no doubt that many will drop out due to Tiferet or other obligations, the team expects to have its biggest roster in school history.

The team will continue hitting at the golf nets until January, when offseason will be moved to Woodley Lakes Golf Course. The season kicks off in February.
