A new face dawns the halls of Milken Middle School; Walt Steele, math teacher. Born in Encino, Steele grew up in Van Nuys and attended a local high school, Crespi. As a child Steele had two interests; mathematics and baseball.
While attending Pepperdine University, Steele pursued his passion for baseball and even made it to the College World Series. After, he briefly went pro and played in the Minor Leagues. Now, Steele’s passions include landscaping and playing golf.
Prior to working at Milken, Steele taught mathematics at Montclair College Preparatory School for 29 years. His knowledge of math is extensive, as he has taught algebra 1 and 2, geometry, pre calculus, and statistics.
Steele tried a slightly different path and served as principal at Montclair for the past five years. He is excited to be switching back to teaching mathematics.
“This year, I am looking forward to collaborating with the staff,” said Steele.
The Middle School eagerly awaits what Steele will bring to the math department.
