Get to know a coach: Coach Iversen

In our third article in the “Get to know a coach” series, The Roar sat down with girls basketball coach Barbara Iversen.

Milken Roar: How many years have you been coaching at Milken?

Coach Ivy: I have been coaching at Milken for 11 years.

MR: What sport(s) do you coach here at Milken?

CI: This year I am coaching middle school swimming and girls varsity basketball. In the past I have coached middle school boys baseball, middle school girls volleyball, and high school girls softball.

MR: What is your favorite sport to play?

CI: I enjoy playing basketball.

MR: Favorite sports and teams to follow?

CI: I follow the Duke Blue Devils mens basketball team,  New York Jets NFL football team and the Stanford Women basketball team.

MR: What is your favorite TV show?

CI: I watched LOST. I currently watch Homeland and Law and Order: SVU.

MR: What is your favorite movie?

CI: My favorite move is “To Kill a Mockingbird.”

MR: What is your favorite food?

CI: My favorite food is Thai Food.

MR: What is the funniest thing a student has said to you?

CI: I look like Sharon Stone.

MR: Who are your teacher best friends?

CI: Coach Steenport.

MR: What do you like to do outside of school?

CI: Play tennis, read books, travel and walk my five dogs.

MR: What is your favorite aspect of Milken?

CI: Family, community atmosphere.

MR: Any other unique facts about yourself?

CI: I am in two athletic hall of fames at St. Bernard’s High School and Mitchell College.
