On November 8, 2011, the Milken Wildcats girls varsity volleyball team (20-4) faced off against the California City Ravens (14-14) in an intense CIF first round battle. The Wildcats advanced to the second round, making short work of their opponent in a three game sweep. From start to finish the Wildcats dismantled the visiting team, winning the first game, 25-10, and the next two, 25-15.

For the Wildcats, Jordyn Schiff ’13 dominated the net, leading the team with 10 kills and slamming the ball down against the overmatched Ravens. Setting her up for her vicious spikes was Niki Fleshner ’13, who led the team with 14 assists. Milken looked in sync throughout the duration of the match, constantly pulling away every time California City tried to muster a comeback. Additionally, captain Ariella Barry ’12  provided a noteworthy performance, leading the team with 11 digs.

Milken advances to their second round game in Anaheim on Thursday, November 10, against the Connelly Koalas (12-13) in a rematch of the 2008 CIF semifinals. They will play at 7 PM at the Anaheim Sports Center where the Olympic team practices.
