On Friday, October 9, Milken students crowded into the amphitheater for a lunchtime club fair event. The majority of Milken’s 22 clubs took this opportunity to spread information and gather members for their clubs.

“[The club fair] is a fun and easy way for students to find out about the many ways that their classmates link into the Milken community and the world outside of Milken,” Mrs. Ann Whiting, mathematics teacher, said.

Students walked around and found the Chinese Culture Appreciation Club handing out fortune cookies, while representatives from the Vegetarian Club were recruiting students. The International Justice Mission talked about human trafficking, and the Chemistry Club was busy sharing its plans to make rock candy.

“It was really great to see all of the different clubs; I’ve been at Milken since ninth grade, and I didn’t know that most of them existed,” Sage Miller, ’13 said.

Overall, clubs reported an average sign up of 15-20 new members. At the end of the year, these clubs will showcase their accomplishments in another club fair.
