With the March Madness college basketball tournament underway, teachers and staff at Milken participated in a tournament amongst themselves. Thirty-three of the Milken staff joined each other by creating brackets despite their background knowledge (or, in some cases, lack thereof!) on college basketball. Each member had a different strategy when making their bracket.
Senor Requejo chose his bracket with a few students and the use of chatgpt.
“I didn’t know what March Madness was, and I used ChatGpt to make my bracket with the help of Jonah Shak,” Requejo said.
On the other hand, Ms. Kiesler made her decisions based on the statistics of different teams.
“I would go to the info and look at their points per game and points allowed and statistically pick the team and if not a clear winner, I go to their top 25 bracket,” Kiesler said.
Ms. Kiesler is currently the number one seed in the teacher bracket.
While some teachers used ChatGpt or statistics to construct their bracket, Mr. Meyerson made his decisions based on Israeli stars and coaches on teams. There are three Jewish head coaches in the Final Four of the Men’s March Madness tournament. This includes: Auburn Tigers: Head Coach Bruce Pearl; Duke Blue Devils: Head Coach Jon Scheyer; Florida Gators: Head Coach Todd Golden.
“I saw the teams and just picked based on if their team had a Jewish Coach or Israeli star player,” Meyerson said. “I have Florida winning, but in my heart I want Auburn to win.”
All teachers and staff had a different path to choosing their brackets, but the madness hit March no matter the strategy. ,
