Milken hosted its annual Career Day on Tuesday, January 29, 2025. Career Day is an event during which Milken alumni from various fields of work come back to Milken and host educational sessions outlining their professions.
Chief of Staff of Capital Campaign Sammy Lawrence (‘14) headed this event. He has organized the event the last two years and hopes to give students a new view on different careers.
“We [Milken] host Career Day every year to give kids a different perspective on jobs that they might want to pursue after high school,” Lawrence said.
Alumni from various and distinct fields take time to return to Milken to speak to current students about their professions, and Career Day takes months of planning each year to make sure students meet with new alumni who offer these unique perspectives.
“It’s like three-and-a-half [to] four months of finding the alumni across different fields,” Lawrence said. “We also want to give students different alumni to meet with to make sure it is exciting for them next year.”
Career Day gives students a chance to network with previous Milken alumni and gain insight on specific companies to help them determine a job path after graduation.
Junior Nathan T. said that Career Day has helped him decide to take a look into new careers he had not considered before.
“Before Career Day, I always wanted to be a Lawyer,” Tabibian said. “Now after learning about real estate and psychology I might want to change my goal and keep exploring.”
On the other hand, Junior Ashley Ben Cohen went to the law and real estate lectures and has set her heart on following the first path Tabibian described.
“I have always wanted to become an attorney, and I got the chance to reach out to some Law alumni to show my interest in the field,” Ben Cohen said.
Essentially, Career Day has been a Milken tradition each year for students, and Mr. Lawrence has made an effort to make it as great as it can be.
“We want kids to make the most out of Career Day, so I make sure to put my effort into making it amazing,” Lawrence said.
