In the amphitheater this past week, Milken’s 11-12 Student Government kicked off its first pancake breakfast of the year, transforming an ordinary fall day into a delicious celebration for the school.
For many, like Ezri E. (‘25), the pancakes felt like a lifesaver.
“I was having a rough start to my day: I woke up late; my hair was “off”; I forgot to put on cologne in the morning. But when I took a bite of that warm, fluffy, chocolate-chip pancake, my entire day just turned around. It was terrific.”
Hadley H. (‘25) and Maddie S. (‘25) shared their experiences serving pancakes at this Milken-tradition-semesterly-breakfast this year.
“It was a really fun experience because Maddie and I are veterans. We’ve been doing this for four years, so it was a really nice throwback,” Hadley said.
Maddie added that “Seeing people’s faces light up as we gave them a pancake really just made my morning and showed me all the ways that we could provide for the Milken community.”
The pancake breakfast wasn’t just about food, it was also about that community or “Gibbush”.
“After an academic quarter of hard work and good learning, it’s so important to stop, celebrate, rest, and relax,” Rabbi Shawn Fields-Meyer said. “It was so much fun to be together as we celebrated the end of the first quarter.”

Could you believe that it was a pancake breakfast? Well you batter believe it! Such an eggcelent start to a morning. Also why was the boy scared of pancakes? It gave him the crepes!
One more closing question? What’s the best pancake topping? I personally think it’s more pancakes.
Also, great article. Such a great article, and those pancakes looked so good.
