On the first day, we arrived in New Orleans where we were greeted by our Rustic Pathways leaders. We were then driven to the girls’ house where we all ate a dinner of Jambalaya together. After dinner, we had a guest speaker from The Jewish Federation of New Orleans who taught us about the tragic hurricane and the events that came as a result of the hurricane, as well as the response of the Jewish community around the world. When we were done with that, we all got ice cream from a famous ice cream parlor, Creole Creamery. This concluded our night and then we all went to our base homes for the night. After some quick orientation we split into our rooms and went to sleep in preparation for our busy day two!
