Last night, the Milken Wildcats football team took on Discovery Prep and it was a blowout. The 50-12 win was proof that the Wildcats could rely on their veterans to get the job done every week. The Wildcats were dominating the Warriors so thoroughly that after just one half of play, the Wildcats were able to rest their starters and let some younger players have a shot to play.
The two main stars of the game were seniors Michael Reisman ’16 and Jason Goldman ’16. These two four year players are often looked upon for leadership and large plays, and in last night’s game, they came up huge. Reisman had three touchdowns for over 100 yards in the first quarter alone. When asked about his huge performance, Reisman had this to say, “The whole team just played really well. We all worked well together and my offensive line and the play calling made it easy for me to have a big day.”
But Reisman wasn’t alone. Starting quarterback, Jason Goldman, put together an excellent performance. Goldman added two passing touchdowns and one rushing touchdown of his own to a large offensive game for the Wildcats. With the Wildcats playing at such a high level in the first half, they were able to play some backups in the second half.
Junior, and Milken football rookie, Jonathan Shirian ’17 took advantage of his playing time in the second half by running the ball very successfully. When asked about Shirian’s game, Josh Goldenstein ’16 added “He was running all over the field. Coach put him in in the second half and he wanted the ball in his hands. It was great to see him put in the work in practice and have it show in the game.”
The Wildcats will use their star power and overall depth as they move forward in this football season. The Wildcats couldn’t have asked for anything more than this great start to the season. And at 2-0, they look to build on their past successes as their schedule increases in difficulty.
