Mr. Adam Steele, Milken’s newest addition to the English department, has officially started working as a high school teacher after substituting for Ms. Melody Mansfield’s class last year.
Born in Beaverton, OR, Steele moved to Van Nuys, CA when he was a baby. He attended CSUN, where he majored in English with an emphasis in Creative Writing. He went on to receive his masters in Creative Writing with an emphasis in Fiction from Queens University in Charlotte, NC. He then worked for seven years at an animation company owned by Nancy Cartwright, the voice of Bart Simpson from “The Simpsons.” He also taught creative writing and college essay preparation to high school students.
“I knew that [teaching] was something I wanted to do,” Steele said.
While not teaching at Milken or working on building his new home, Steele enjoys playing beach volleyball, going to the beach, eating, and traveling.
“I have been spending most of my weekends working on my house. We just built a front and back porch,” Steele said.
Steele is a big advocate of creative writing in schools, and he is very happy that Milken offers a variety of English classes. He cannot wait to be fully immersed in his job at Milken.
