Meet Yoel Weisshaus, one of the newest faces of American Apparel. He is not your typical “double-zero”, scantily clad model. The 32-year old is a Hasidic Jew living in New Jersey.

When his friend told him that American Apparel was auditioning Hasidim, Weisshaus eagerly took up the opportunity.

“I’ve always been pretty out there,” Weisshaus told The Times of Israel.

Breaking the conventional image of a Hasidic Jew, the model feels that he is showing the Hasidic community that American Apparel has appropriate clothing for them as well.

This is not Weisshaus’s first time in the spotlight. When the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey announced that they were raising their fare tolls in 2011, he decided to sue. He has also had small rolls in TV shows and films.
