Silvia Badgen was born to be a teacher. Badgen, a new addition to Milken’s Spanish department, remembers playing teacher as a child with her friends, her dolls, and her father. Since earning her teacher’s credentials in her hometown of Buenos Aires, Argentina, Badgen has never stopped doing what she loves: teaching.
After working in Argentina for five years, Badgen moved to Los Angeles in 1982, with her husband and daughter. Badgen taught Spanish at a school opened by the Argentinian consulate, then trained the staff of the Los Angeles Unified School District to become bilingual.
Badgen moved on to teach at Montclair College Prep., where she taught Spanish for 22 years and eventually became the school’s Foreign Languages Department Chair.
In April, Badgen joined the Milken community when Mrs. Melodie Roden went on maternity leave. Badgen is enjoying the small classes, the block schedule, and the friendly and polite Milken students.
When not teaching, Badgen enjoys visiting her daughter in New Jersey, eating out in restaurants, and watching sports (she’s a huge Lakers fan!). Badgen also loves to grade her students papers while sitting in the Topanga mall with a cup of coffee.
