On Sunday, December 8th, students gathered in the Beit Midrash for the Creative Writing department’s ninth annual Sunday WordPlay. The event featured guest author Janet Sternburg, a renowned photographer and the editor of The Writer on Her Work, a required summer reading book for many juniors and seniors.
Sternburg spoke to students about a variety of topics, including her experience as a female writer, her writing process, and her feelings toward both writing and photography as means of expression. After a brief Q&A session, Sternburg led students in a writing workshop inspired by some of her photographs.
“It was really great to hear the creative genius behind the book that I so enjoyed reading over the summer,” Noah Mintz ’14 said, “Janet Sternburg is an amazing author and it was very enriching to participate in her workshop.”
