Ms. Noa Schecter’s current Hebrew Honors 6 class consists of a core group of students who have studied Neta together throughout their time at Milken. Schecter has taught the class for three of the four years of high school, while some students have learned together since seventh grade. As a result of its lengthened time together, the group has grown close and enjoys exploring Hebrew in creative and unique ways.

This year, the class implemented a system of celebrating Shabbat every Friday B day when the group meets. Every other week, a different student is nominated “Shabbat eema” or “Shabbat aba” to bring in grape juice, challah and snacks for class.

Recently, the class took a field trip to Aroma Café for lunch to acknowledge the end of its four-year streak, in light of the fact that the majority of the class will be graduating later this year.

Ultimately, through its various activities and long time of learning together, the class has grown tight-knit, both among the students and with its teacher.

“I just want to say that Ms. Schecter has been more than a teacher to me, she has been more like a mentor. I know that when I graduate, I will keep in touch with her and visit Milken whenever I can, since she taught me so much Hebrew. She is truly superhuman,” Shaina Sarafian ’12 said.
