Every few weeks, a handful of seniors receive an email inviting them to a mandatory lunch meeting with the Head of School to share those students’ experiences at Milken. I have nothing against the administration wanting to get to know the students. However, I must admit, isn’t it a little late?

Right before Milken students departed on winter break, Alex Weil ’14, Joshua Simmons ’12, Rachel Gross ’04, Jeremy Vanderhall ’99 and Debbi Petrasek Brown, Milken parent, were announced as the winners of the “Milken Moment” contest. Each received an iPad 2 as a reward.

After over five years in captivity, it was announced on Tuesday, October 11 that abducted Israel Defense Forces soldier Gilad Shalit will be released in a prisoner exchange deal between Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Hamas.

405 freeway to be closed July 15-July 18

From around midnight on Friday, July 15 until early Monday, July 18, the northbound 405 freeway between the 101 freeway and Interstate 10 and four miles of the southbound 405 freeway, from the 101 to the Getty Center Drive ramp, will be shut down. During these 53 hours, half of the Mulholland Drive Bridge will be demolished.
Milken Community High School to split with Stephen S. Wise Temple

As of July 1, 2012, Milken Community High School and Stephen S. Wise Temple (SSWT) will no longer be affiliated. An email was sent to the entire Milken community announcing this monumental split between the two institutions after 20 years.
Milken track and field team joins protest against LAUSD

As more than 200 William Howard Taft High School students, parents, and faculty paraded along Ventura Boulevard on Thursday, March 10, carrying “No Charter! Save Our School!” posters, Milken’s track and field team joined in on the protest.

On February 26, five of Milken’s Mitchell Academy of Science and Technology (MAST) students participated in the 19th annual Los Angeles Department of Water and Power’s (LADWP) regional Science Bowl competition.
