The most important lesson I learned from the March of the Living is that there is life after the Holocaust. These survivors have moved on with their lives. Although this idea might seem obvious to most, I did not realize it until I was in Poland, walking through death camps with the people who escaped them.

On Friday, November 18, almost 200 Milken students participated in the Day of Silence. The Day of Silence is meant to help people reflect on the challenges faced by people all over the world who are too afraid to come out as gay, lesbian, bisexual, transsexual, or transgender.

It may have taken years, but Milken Community High School is finally taking its first baby steps towards becoming a typical American high school with a new tackle football team, Homecoming game and traditional Homecoming dance. The next step Milken needs to take is towards a school cafeteria.
